I was gassed in the Argonne Forest, but it doesn’t seem to hurt me much now. I was at LeMons, France, just before sailing for home and met Olden Hutchinson, Earnest Williams and Bud Layne, and they requested me to let their parents know of their where abouts. They are very healthy looking fellows, and thought they would be at home some time before Christmas.
NOTES: Partial letter written by James C. Smith, to his parents Mr. and Mrs. Dick Smith of Hardy. He is now in the hospital at Camp Pike.
