My dear mother and father,
How are you all this beautiful weather? All well I hope. I am in the hospital now but am up and feeling fine as ever.
Say mother, why is it that I haven’t been getting any mail from home? I have written several letters since I landed in France but I haven’t received any answers yet. I don’t know whether you are getting the letters I write or not. How is everybody around home? Tell Zim to write and tell me about the girls and tell all the children hello for me. Tell Zim he should be here to go to the front with me some times, it is great sport.
I would like to tell you what I am in the hospital for but I don’t think I would be allowed to.
Well papa how is your crop this year? I hope they are good. I guess wages are out of sight.
I guess Emmet and Jeff and all those boys have been called.
Well dinner is ready so I will close for this time expecting to hear from you soon. bye bye.
Ross Smith
