I haven’t got me a French girl for I can’t talk to them very much.
I have got where I can shoot pretty straight now I get eight hits out of ten shooting at a spot about the size of a dime about fifty feet away. We are going to have another shooting match tomorrow and I will be in it.
NOTES: This partial letter was written by Will M. Smith from Somewhere in France to his father Joe Smith. He mentions that he is getting “fat as a pig and weighs 190 pounds.” He also mentions getting separated from Grady Pollard another Polk County soldier.
