TRANSCRIBED FROM THE LITTLE RIVER NEWS OCTOBER 5, 1918 P. 2
Dear Dad:
Just a line or two now and then instead of a letter. I will write regular letters when I get started. You know how it is now, so don’t worry about me when I don’t write for a spell. I am in a new life now, new things, customs and sights, adventures, so you see if I don’t write it will be laziness or neglect. How are all, Uncle Ed Etton and Mamma? Write me often and long letters, all of you and tell me all the news. I can still read, too, and won’t be mad if you send me papers. Lots of love to all. I am your loving son,
ALVIN
Write Mary too, she will be so lonesome now for awhile.
NOTES: This letter was written by Alvin Strong who was serving in the navy.
