Dear Sister:
I am getting along very well. Am in the hospital at the present time; have been here eight days, but am not injured and it is nothing serious.
I have been in France now almost three months. Was in the trenches once for 12 days but did not get hurt. Big shells would fall all around us and burst like big drops of rain but no one in my company was injured. Have also seen a number of air battles.
Think I will be out of the hospital soon so I can go back to the trenches and help the boys show the Kaiser what we Americans do to the Huns.
Your brother,
James O. Stubblefield
NOTES: Written to his sister, Mrs. Logan (Blanche) Hancock of Paroquet.
