Dear Mother and Family:
I thought I’d try writing you a few lines to let you know I am getting along fine and hope when this reaches you it will find all well.
Guess you was suprised when you got the letter from the Red Cross Lady saying I was in the Hospital. Well here is a kind of a history of my sickness and operation. On the evening of April the 8 (after supper) I took a hurting in my side and aimed to go on sick report next morning, but we got orders to go on the range so I put it off thinking I’d get better, but that night I didn’t sleep any; the next morning I went on sich call and was sent to the Hospital (Evacuation Hospital 27) and operated on that afternoon, April the 10th and I’ve got along first rate and am all most heoled up. I’ve got the very best of care all time and will be able to walk in a few days; I set up some yesterday for the first time and nothing happens. I’ll be ready for duty before long, so don’t worry about me for I’m making it fine. How is pa and Doss getting along farming?
Guess I’d better quit for a fellow can’t write much laying down send my mail to the Comdany for I won’t be here long so by by. Answer soon.
Your son,
Private Clarence A. Taylor,
Co. L, 23 Inf., A.P.O. 715 A.E.F.
