TRANSCRIBED FROM THE PINE BLUFF DAILY GRAPHIC FEBRUARY 17, 1918 P. 11
Mr. E. B. Bloom,
Pine Bluff, Ark.
My dear Mr. Bloom:
I received a few days ago your bulletin of December 3, which stated that I had registered from Hollis, Va., in the official bulletin sent out by the American Red Cross society. As I gave my address as Pine Bluff in all my communications, I can’t understand how this mistake was made, unless it was because I was organizing Red Cross work at Hollin’s college, Va., when my summons came from the Red Cross for foreign service. I regret very much that the mistake should have been made, for I am proud to be from Arkansas, and prouder still from Pine Bluff—and in my service in a foreign field I shall endeavor to bring credit on my home town.
I am trying to get a collection of French war posters, which at present are valuable and very interesting. Should I be successful, I shall have them sent home, and will be glad to loan them to you for exhibition either in the Red Cross rooms, or in the Chamber of Commerce.
Thanking you for your notice in the Chamber of Commerce bulletin, and wishing even greater things for Pine Bluff thruout the coming year, I am,
Very truly,
Henrietta Taylor.
NOTES: Henrietta Taylor was born on August 7, 1974 in Mount Sterling, Montgomery County, Kentucky and died at Lawrence, Essex County, Massachusetts. She is buried Henrietta Taylor Burnett in the Burnett Memorial Cemetery, at Southborough, Worcester County, Mass. She was a Red Cross Nurse and served in France for 14 months.
