TRANSCRIBED FROM THE DREW COUNTY ADVANCE APRIL 22, 1919 P. 3
Vic De Chassancy, France
Dear Sister:
Wil try to answer your welcome letter which was read Saturday and was sure glad to hear from you once more. Your letter was just 19 days coming, that is the fastiest I have ever got any mail, ____how is everything at home these days. Is the “Flu” still raging. Lots of the boys dying over here with the “Flu”, think it will be better when it is pretty weather. We have so much rain over here, but it is about ____over here now. It is not raining as much as it did for a while, not too bad. Will did not get to Camp, wanted him to get a little army ___and eat some Corn Willie and Hard Tack. Guess he tried to be some ____didn’t he.
Gee! I don’t think I will ever be ___to live around that place any ___. I did not know it was so lonesome until I was at home on my furlough. I thought I would die that ___days I was at home. They say we are to go home in May.
Well I have written about all I can, so will say good-bye. Tell everybody hello for me. Answer soon.
