TRANSCRIBED FROM THE ROGERS DEMOCRAT DECEMBER 12, 1918 P. 1
For some time I’ve thot of writing to the Democrat and thereby reach many of my friends where it would otherwise be impossible to reach.
Since the war is over, a man in uniform doesn’t rate very much, so I hesitate in sending a note to be published in “Letters from the Boys.”
Since enlisting in the Marine Corps I’ve been through boat camp, transferred to the Flying Corps and have finished all but the latter part of my flying course.
As a reserve, I was given a chance to get out of the service and will probably take it, because there is no incentive for my work now, and a pair of wings don’t amount to much in civil life.
I have been extremely lucky since becoming a marine. I qualified as an expert rifleman on the range and thus far have not had any serious accidents. I won’t feel entirely safe though until I get back to Halfway.
