Dear Mother:
I will drop you a few lines to see if I can hear from you. Have not heard from you all since I have been in France. Well, I am having a fine time over here. I am a military police, we are in a big city and sure do have a good time. I guess I won’t be back for a long time. Don’t worry about me, we have a big fine building right in town. We go to shows every night, and sure do have fine eats. I am willing to stay a year if they want me to, but I would like to see you all. It is like summer over here, it hasn’t been cold enough to wear a coat, and the grass is green. We are on duty six hours and off eighteen. It is the best thing I have had in the army. Guess Orvill will soon be back, hope so anyway. How did you like the picture of my girl, I have a nice little girl over here and I may bring her back with me. I can talk a little French, not much you have to twist your tongue around too much. I will bring you a nice present when I come.
NOTES: This partial letter was written from France by Elvis Tucker to his mother Mrs. A. T. Tucker
