Dearest Father:
I am answering your letter which I received today and am sure glad to hear from you and hope you are getting along fine. I received the papers you sent me and you don’t know how much I enjoy reading them. Tell Brother to write me a letter if he is not too busy, for I sure do like to hear from you all. I haven’t had very much time to write as I just came out of the trenches. I am getting along fine, and sure wish I could see you. Tell mother hello for me. Will close this time hoping to hear from you soon.
Bye by,
Your son,
