Dear sisters and father:
Your most kind and welcome letter came to me a few days ago, and sure was glad to hear from you all once more and most of all that all were O. K. This leaves me just fine, and hoping you may all be the same. As we were coming to this camp, we stopped in a small town for lunch, and I met Fred Baker’s brother. He is with 44th Engineers, and has been over three months. I received a letter from Iva a few days ago and she did not know we were coming over. Sister, the 12th of this month is my birthday. This is my third birthday to spend in the army. I hope I will spend my next one at home or in the U. S., anyway. I received a letter from Augustia, and she lives with Rosey in Pine Bluff. As I haven’t much to write, I will close, hoping to hear from you all soon.
A loving brother and son.
Oran
NOTES: This letter was written by Oran Wallace to his sister and father who lived at Route 2. He was writing from France. THIS IS PROBABLY ORAN WALLAS.
