TRANSCRIBED FROM THE NEVADA COUNTY PICAYUNE, DECEMBER 5, 1918 P. 8
Dear Mother and family:
I am sailing somewhere in the Atlantic. I am well and fine and hope you all are well. I don’t know much to write. The main thing is I am well and having some fine trips. Though it is not very good writing the ship rocks so I just make ugly marks in the place of writing. I will write you all again soon and tell you something about my trip. But say, don’t worry about me if you don’t hear from me for sometime.
You all takecare of yourselves and don’t worry about me. Your son.
Cap Weaver.
P. S. Let Sude and Walter know where I am at.
NOTES: James T. “Cap” Weaver was born on February 28, 1897. He was short and stout with gray eyes and black hair. He died September 28, 1965 and is buried in the Liberty Cemetery at Redland, Arkansas. The cemetery index lists him as James T Weaver but his tombstone shared with his wife Cue lists him as Cap.
