Dear Grandma:
Will write you a few lines to let you know I am all right. Leo and I joined the army and believe me, it is great. We have music of all description, dances and many other privileges. Of course, we have lots of discipline, but it is for the good of us boys.
We joined the coast artillery and we will be sent to California or to Oregon; we don’t know yet.
Grandma, you tell mother not to worry. Leo and I took out $10,000 insurance apiece, so we will leave something if we lose. But we are coming back. We will be in camp in America for at least 6 months. I will write you again in a few days so you can write to me. God bless you and all. Will write soon.
Henry Wilson
NOTES: Henry H. Wilson was born in Arkansas on December 2, 1896 and died in National City, California on November 19, 1984. He is buried in the Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego, California. He enlisted in the service on September 28, 1917.
