My Dear Cousin
Just a few lines in answer to your kind and most welcome letter just received. I sure was glad to hear from you and to hear that you all were up and well. These lines leaves me up but I am not well, but am getting along fine and like the army better every day but you know I would like to be back there at home again.
I sure would enjoy eating a cake from back there. But you know I would be so long getting one it is so far to where I am.
Well, cousin, I do not think I have any girl back there at all now since I came into the army they don't believe I will ever come back home again. I have not received a letter from a one of them and you know I care for that. I have been done in just that way my last time. I do not believe any of them nor what they say. I do not blame anyone but myself for the way I have been treated.
Well, Cousin, I could tell you more if I was there than I can write. I have been all over France and sure have seen some pretty country over here. All of the boys over here are waiting and longing for the time to come when they will get back in the dear old United States, but we know and you all should know that all can not come back at the same time. We are doing the best we can here and have shows to go to and also preaching.
I have seen a number of the boys from Benton and they all and are enjoying life with the rest of us, and we are hoping to come back and meet our dear old friends just as we left them and hoping that they may be doing better.
Tell all of the people hello for me and remember me as one who gone but who going to return some day.
You may turn the letter over to the editor of the paper so the people back there may see and read another letter written by an old friend.
Your cousin,
Frank Wilson
