Dear Springdale News:
If you will allow me space in your paper I will write a few lines as I was a citizen of Springdale for four years and I have a number of friends around there so maybe a few of them would like to know where I am now as the war has been going on for some time. My home is at Rector, Ark., but I have been stationed at Camp Pike for the last 14 months. There is a young man in my company from Springdale and I was looking over his paper this week and saw so many names that I knew around there that I decided I wanted the paper sent to me for 6 months. I saw also where you were about to get water works in Springdale. I want to say a word about watter works. It is a grand thing to have. Our town had water works put in 2 years ago and there was some kicking at first but all think it is a fine thing now.
Well, I would like to see lots of good news in the Fishback and Friendship items. So I will close with best wishes to my friends and success for the Springdale News.
I am as ever your friend,
Floyd Winn.

NOTES: Floyd Winn was born on March 25, 1893 in Rector, Arkansas and died on December 12, 1957 in Rector. He is buried in the Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.
