Please allow me in behalf of the men and officers on this troop train to thank you for your courtesy and the few most enjoyable hours we spent in your town yesterday afternoon. We certainly had a good time, and I assure you that each and every one of us will always remember our stay in Rison.

NOTES: Robert W. Young was writing to former Rison mayor, Tom Blodgett, for the town's reception when the troop train, commanded by Young was delayed in Rison due to a wreck. Young was born on April !0, 1894 in Okolona, Clark County, Arkansas and killed on action on October 30, 1918 on the Meuse-Argonne battlefield, France. He served as First Lieutenant of Co. F, 61st Infantry. He was described as being of medium height and build with gray eyes and brown hair. His mother, Mrs. Adelle Young, made the gold star mother's trip in 1930 to his burial place in the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery in France.
